This week has really been a whirlwind and I can't believe it's already October!
I am excited that it is sweater season this year. It's been a bumpy ride and as I see some of you in store what I miss most is giving you a big squeeze. My best replacement for that is to wrap you up in a nice, cozy sweater. It's my hug for the time being.
As a prairie girl I love sweaters. Even in my "warm blooded" state I crave the texture, style and feeling of a great knit. This week the question came up about turtlenecks... if you were a turtle would you just call it a neck?
The history behind the turtleneck is that English polo players first wore turtlenecks in the 1860s and originally called them polo necks. By the 1900's they were popular as a fashion item, as the Gibson girl look wore high, ruffled necked blouses. Their adoption by the middle-class fashion set in the 1920's made them a trend and I think the rest is history.
This season the turtleneck is a classic and stylish sweater to add to your Autumn 2020 repertoire. Don't worry if you don't wear them, we have many more sweaters to help you navigate the season with warmth and style.
